The Harriers are a youth distance running team consisting of boys and girls ranging from 4th to 8th grade.*
We are currently in the middle of track season, which we use to stay in shape for XC (cross country) season. Track season consists of local 5k races and a couple of FLYRA track meets. We will also continue training throughout the summer in preparation for XC season.
XC season training begins August 1 and runs through the end of October.
XC meets are usually early on Saturday mornings and we travel to 7-8 meets during the season. Click to see the 2018 Race Schedule. Races are typically 2-3 km (1-2 miles). 2019 Schedule TBA.
XC practices are Tuesdays 6:00pm, Thursdays 6:00pm and Saturdays 7:30am.
Practice locations are emailed by the coach each week. We run 3 to 6 miles during practices, depending on experience.
Beginners are welcome! We train to the child’s ability, and encourage a positive but challenging environment.
2018 dues were $80 for xc season, plus the cost of the uniform. 2019 dues were $100 for track.
*Many younger siblings are a part of the Harriers and most meets have an elementary race in addition to the middle school race that they can participate in. We also have some 3rd and 4th graders who are able to keep up with the older kids and run in the middle school races. We have a great group of parents who help out with the coaching and the workouts to make this possible.
