Katelin Wilcox earned a spot on the Harriers Top 25 List with a PR of 12:54.44

The Harriers boys were runners-up and the girls placed 4th at the 5th Annual FLYRA Nature Coast Qualifier on Saturday, October 20th in Lecanto.  The boys elementary team won 1st place in the 2k event.

Bay Area Middle School Champions

The Hillsborough Harriers Boys Team came in first place at the Bay Area Middle School Championship on Saturday.  In a field of over 200 runners, seven boys were awarded Top Twenty medals.

The Harriers will be racing in the Bay Area Middle School Championship on October 13th in Tampa.

Season Starts at Jim Ryun Invitational

The first cross country meet of the season brought hundreds of runners to Lakeland for the 10th Anniversary Jim Ryun Invitational.  After the varsity and JV high school 5k races, the Harriers competed in the middle school 3k events, starting at 10:00am.  It was hard work for the racers who battled the central Florida late-August heat, but the Harriers were ready after spending the latter part of the summer preparing.  The teams won 2nd place overall out of 16 teams (boys) and 5th overall (girls), and both teams had two Top Ten medalists.  Newcomer Nicole Oliveira, 6th grade, received a 10th place medal and earned a spot on the Harriers Top 25 3k Times in her first cross country race.  Eliana Black, 5th grade, was awarded the 1st place medal for her time of 12:14.0.  In the boys’ race, 5th grader Oscar Brown finished in 9th place with 12:00.1, while Brennan Fargher, 7th grade, finished 10th in 12:02.9.

The Harriers attended the last official meet of the 2018 track season on Saturday, May 19th, hosted by My Brother’s Keeper Track Club.  The My Brother’s Keeper Invitational was held at Spoto High School in Riverview.  The Harriers dominated most of the distance events, with several first place finishes in the 3000 meter and 1500 meter races.  What a way to end the season!  Some Harriers will continue on to the regional AAU race on June 2nd.  Cross country training begins in the summer.  Go Harriers!

FLYRA State Championship

Anna Breede represented the Hillsborough Harriers at the FLYRA Middle School State Championship on May 12th at IMG Stadium in Bradenton.  She placed 6th overall in the Girls 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:25.10.

3rd-5th grade Harriers ran the 1500 meter and 800 meter events as part of the Elementary Showcase.  The younger Harriers won three Top 10 spots in the four events.

Eliana Black represented the Harriers at the AAU National Championship in Charlotte, NC on December 2nd and placed 5th overall in the 9-year old girls division.  Way to go, Eliana!

The Harriers didn’t take much time off after cross country season, as many of them won top awards in local races such as the Wiregrass Wobble, Clearwater Turkey Trot, Flapjack 5k, Girls on the Run 5k, Ragnar Alafia, Best Damn Race, and Gasparilla.

 

Now the Harriers are ready for Track 2018!
